Reynolds International is one of the world's largest, most diversified multinational corporations. It was founded by Hawthorne Reynolds —a world renown business magnate—known for his savvy, ruthless corporate practices. Reynolds International grew and prospered, by absorbing scores of smaller businesses.

Reynolds International controls a large portion of Chicago through various subsidiaries, including three major banks, a large metropolitan hospital and several industrial firms spread throughout the city. Reynolds International dominates the core commerce of Chicago and various regions throughout the world.

Hawthorne Reynolds commissioned the construction of Reynolds Tower in downtown Chicago, which is now the tallest building in the Midwest, coming in ten feet taller than the Willis Building, formerly known as the Sears Tower.

It is estimated that Reynolds International directly and/or indirectly, employs over a third of the city's 2.7 million population. A majority of local businesses are wholly, or at least partially, owned subsidiaries of Reynolds International.

In addition to its many properties in the greater Chicago area, Reynolds International has domestic holdings in New York, Los Angeles, Denver, Houston, New Orleans, Miami, Seattle, and Boston. The corporation currently maintains financial institutions, research facilities, refineries, and/or manufacturing plants in a score of countries, including Great Britain, Brazil, Germany, Switzerland, France, Italy, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Japan, Singapore, and the free market of Hong Kong.
